Bogibeel Bridge

Bogibeel Bridge, the longest double deck bridge (upper deck is of three lane road and lower deck is of double track railway ling) of India is constructed in the upper course of the Brahmaputra river in Assam.  The bridge is connecting Bogibeel of Dibrugarh district in the southern to Kareng Chapori of Dhemaji district in the northern bank of upper Assam. Bogibeel Bridge has one of the longest constructional history in the bridge engineering of India due to several reasons. It was 1998, during the Prime minister-ship of H D Devagauda, the bridge got its inaugural touch and then after four years in 12th April 2002, the then Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Bajpayee laid the foundation stone for the mammoth task. After a long wait of 16 years, the bridge is going to open on 25th December 2018 by the Prime Minister, Sri Narendra Modi.  A long awaited hope of the people North East India is going to fulfill.
